Do I really need to test or inspect my home for mold?
If you are selling your home, it's a good idea to visually inspect it prior to a buyer’s inspection. We generally do not believe you need to test your home when you have obvious Visual Mold.
Whether the mold is Aspergillums or Cladasporium, you still need to clean it and identify the source of the moisture. Testing your home is reserved for clearance and/or certifications after a professional Remediation.
When there is no Obvious Visual Mold or Moisture Intrusions, but a musty odor or a family member is suffering from adverse health effects, testing can confirm or eliminate the possibility of mold.
There are some cases when you have visual mold, that you should test, i.e. Real Estate purchases, legal actions or for medical reasons. Call our experts for more information on where and when to test.
Is mold dangerous?
For the majority of people No! For some people, yes… it can be a potential health threat. It does have a lot to do with the individual as well as where the mold is located in your home. The type of mold and the water source, i.e., clean water, sewage, black, grey, or river water, are factors in the potential for adverse health effects.
Mold is an allergen. It's in every cubic meter of air space on the planet and is easily monitored by your local weather person. We naturally have high levels of mold spores when it rains and low levels when it's dry. High levels of mold spores can trigger asthma, allergies and or other respiratory problems in certain people. Your doctor can test you too see if you are allergic to molds.
How much does a typical remediation project cost?
In some cases you can do it yourself for less than $50, and do a good job. However, most remediation projects with Mold Exceeding 10 Sq. Ft. are no less than $500.00 dollars & up to 15k to Remediate a Whole Home. There are several factors in estimating any mold remediation or restoration project. We can give you a good idea of costs when you call us.
